Der ACE Auto Club Europa hat in der Debatte um das neue Notrufsystem eCall Brüssel und Berlin davor gewarnt, Telematikdienste an Geschäftemacher zu vergeben. "Uns Verkehrsteilnehmern geht es schlicht um verbesserte Möglichkeiten zur Rettung von Menschenleben", sagte ACE-Chef Wolfgang Rose am Samstag in Stuttgart. Die Spekulation der Systemanbieter auf mehr Marktmacht hingegen dürfe sich nicht lohnen, meinte Rose in einem Gespräch mit dem Online-Dienst seines Clubs (ace-online.de). "Von der Kommission aber auch von allen mit eCall befassten EU-Parlamentariern erwarten wir, dass sie die Interessen der Verbraucher an einem effizienten und finanziell erschwinglichen eCall-System in den Mittelpunkt stellen". Wer bei eCall auf die teure Lösung mit der Telematikbox setze nehme in kauf, dass es von Ende 2010 an mindestens noch ein Jahrzehnt dauere, bis eine bedeutende Zahl von Fahrzeugen über einen modernen automatischen Notruf verfüge. Rose bezifferte die Kosten für eCall je nach Systemvariante und Ausgestaltung auf schätzungsweise 1,5 bis 5,5 Milliarden Euro.
