Vielerorts mussten die Räumfahrzeuge vor den Schneemassen kapitulieren. In seinem am Montag in Stuttgart veröffentlichten Alpenstraßenbericht meldet der ACE Auto Club Europa, dass derzeit 44 der insgesamt rund 200 Passstraßen voll gesperrt sind.
In Österreich besteht ab sofort nicht nur für LKW auf mehreren Strecken Kettenpflicht. Auf mehreren Bundesstraßen sind Schneeketten auch für PKW Pflicht. Ohne Hilfe der "Rutsch-Bremsen" geht dort nichts mehr.
Betroffen sind derzeit:
- B99, Katschberg, Mauterndorf - Spittal Pass Katschberg
- B164, Hochkönig, Bischofshofen - Saalfelden Pass Filzensattel
- B165, Gerlospass - Zell am Ziller
- Landesstrasse 5, Riedbergpass - Hittisau Staatsgrenze.
Auch in der Schweiz gibt es wieder Behinderungen durch starken Schneefall und Eisglätte. Betroffen sind nicht nur die Kantonsstrassen, sondern zum Teil auch die Autobahnen. Dabei ist unter anderem die A9 Sion - Domodossola; dort ist das Vorankommen zwischen Brig-Glis und Gondo wegen Schneefalls stark erschwert. Auf zahlreichen Haupt- und Kantonsstraßen in der Schweiz bekommen es Autofahrer laut ACE erneut mit einer fest gefahrenen Schneedecke zu tun. Mitunter ordnen die Behörden dort Sperrungen an oder schreiben vor, Schneeketten aufzuziehen.
