The Energy Information System (EIS) supplies relevant analysis results for individual questions regarding consumption at company sites, like administrative centers, production facilities or logistics centers, and keeps benchmarks ready for assessing consumption data. Here, energy controlling is a highly individual matter. The customer is the one who determines content, scope, and structure of the information used. The system delivers the relevant reports and, if desired, it issues alarms when selectable thresholds are exceeded or not met.
“EIS is an important step for us and puts our customers in the position to control their energy consumption flexibly and efficiently while saving costs,” commented Dirk Mithöfer, Managing Director of EHA, on the introduction of the new system. EHA customers can use the application in two ways. Either they access the information system directly to design their reports flexibly and evaluate data according to their individual analysis goals. Or they use the information service from EHA and have their reports tailored to their wishes by the EHA customer service.
About 40 internal and external participants use EIS in the first delivery step. At the start of the project, Acando was involved with the blueprint concept, the software architecture, and the design of the user interface of the application based on Microsoft technologies. “The client that our customers use is easy to adjust and expand, and a modular design makes it simple to add more functions,” explains Andreas Kramp, Business Unit Manager Microsoft at Acando GmbH. Also ergonomic design was already a central topic during the inception and planning stages because operating EIS should be intuitive and modern.
In the implementation phase, Acando also provided support with technical design and back-end development, with reporting, and during the development of the user interface. Olaf Büttner, the IT manager at EHA, is satisfied with his choice of development partner: “During the entire time of the project, Acando convinced us with their high level of process expertise.”
