Composite-Materialien werden in der Luftfahrt immer häufiger eingesetzt - unter anderem zur Gewichtsreduktion. Fertigungsbedingt haben die Bauteile aus Faserverbundwerkstoffen jedoch häufig größere Toleranzen als Metallelemente. Beim Bau eines Flugzeuges müssen diese Lücken verschlossen werden. Nur so lassen sich Folgeprobleme wie Korrosion oder ein vorzeitiger Verschleiß durch Schwingung vermeiden.
Hohe Leistung bei schneller Verarbeitung
Das neue Zwei-Komponenten-Produkt basiert auf Epoxidharz. Es wurde speziell entwickelt für das Shimmen von Strukturbauteilen mit hoher Lastaufnahme sowie großer schwingender Belastung. Anders als herkömmliche Liquid Shim Produkte überbrückt es dabei selbst große Toleranzen von bis zu 3,0 mm. So kann der Einsatz von Solid Shimming vermieden werden. Dies ist ein großer Vorteil bei der Fertigung. Denn der neue Liquid Shim lässt sich bei Raumtemperatur schnell verarbeiten: In weniger als sechs Stunden ist er handfest.
Hohe Ermüdungsfestigkeit und einfache Handhabung
Dabei hat das neue Produkt von 3M eine herausragende Ermüdungsfestigkeit. Es bietet eine hohe Festigkeit und eine sehr gute chemische Beständigkeit, zum Beispiel gegenüber Wasser, Hydraulikflüssigkeit und Kerosin. Besonders praktisch bei der Anwendung: 3M Scotch-Weld EC-7272 B/A tropft und verläuft nicht. Selbst eine vertikale oder Über-Kopf-Applikation ist möglich. Der Flüssigshim ist auch in Kartuschen erhältlich und für kostensparende Injektionsanwendungen geeignet.
