(pressebox) (Jena, 2011-07-21) The Eurofighter Typhoon is a combat aircraft with a multi-role capability which is jointly being developed and built by Germany, Great Britain, Italy and Spain. This new partial order for tranche 3a of the Eurofighter covers additional generators for 88 aircrafts. Delivery of the generators to Cassidian will start in February 2012 and run through to July 2014.

The oil-cooled DC generator secures the emergency power supply and has been approved in accordance with the stringent standards for military aircraft. It is characterized by an extremely high power density even under the tough environmental and operating conditions typical for this kind of modern aircraft. Two of these generators are fitted to each gearbox on the Eurofighter.

The total number of generators ordered so far exceeds 1,000, Jenoptik has supplied 825 of these to date. The Eurofighter Typhoon has been in series production since 2000.
