(pressebox) (Germering, 2007-02-27) Based on the GeBE printer module GPT-4352 with serial interface, GeBE Elektronik und Feinwerktechnik GmbH in cooperation with distribution partner Eltrona GmbH in Schwechat, Austria, has developed a printer for the installation in forestry vehicles. Protected inside a robust metal housing, the small GeBE thermal printer can now be used for applications in rough environments affected by strong vibration. All-around protection is a necessary requirement for reliable data output systems in applications on board mobile machinery (forestry vehicles, bulldozers, steamrollers, etc.). The miniature GeBE printer is installed in the cockpit using a specially designed mounting set.

Stabile Installation for Reliable Printing

In automotive applications, printers need to be connected to the on-board power system. The power supply and data line of this newly developed module are carried through a small connector screw. This keeps the wiring of the printer stabile and reliable - even in rough terrain. The easy and fast paper roll exchange per Easyloading technology is every user's dream. No incovenient threading as with other devices. The new paper roll is inserted and the lid snapped shut, which only takes a few seconds.

Compact and Safeguarded for Automotive Applications

The dimensions of the extremely compact GeBE thermal printer are 77.4 mm x 76.8 mm x 39.3 mm including the housing. Its small size makes it ideal for integration in often very space sensitive cabs. The printers are controlled through serial RS232 interfaces. Other interfaces, such as IrDA or Bluetooth, are available on request. The operating voltage ranges between 4.5 and 7.2 VDC, or between 10 and 36 VDC - with DC/DC converter -. The peak power consumption during printing can be limited to a value between 0.7 A and 6 A. This will affect the print speed, but it lets the user adapt the printer to the capacity of the vehicle's power supply.
