JAKOB Antriebstechnik GmbH

Im Jahr 1971 gründet Ludwig Jakob die Firma JAKOB Maschinenteile nebenberuflich in Kleinwallstadt. Zwei Jahre später produziert JAKOB Revolvermessgetriebe und einfache Balgkupplungen mit Passfederverbindungen. Ein Jahr darauf wird die Kupplung KSS entwickelt und patentiert. Mit der KSS Kupplung wird erstmals das Prinzip der kraftschlüssigen Welle-Nabe-Verbindung angewandt. Auch heute findet dieses Prinzip viele Nachahmer. Daraufhin wird schließlich die eigene Montage und Qualitätssicherung aufgenommen. 1977 wird die erste Sicherheitskupplung entwickelt, die einen Wellenversatz ausgleicht. Diese SKA-Typ Kupplung wird im gleichen Jahr auf der EMO in Hannover mit großem Erfolg vorgestellt. Eine erste Produktionserweiterung erfolgt mit dem Bezug der Fertigungshalle in der Dieselstraße und der Einrichtung einer Entwicklungsabteilung für Optoelektronik. Erste tragbare optoelektronische Handräder werden im Jahr 1982 vorgestellt. Im Jahr 1983 findet der Umzug in das neue Verwaltungsgebäude in der Dieselstraße 8 statt. Fünf Jahre später erwirbt JAKOB eine Mehrheitsbeteiligung an der Fa. Optima Spanntechnik in Scheuerfeld. Die zweite Erweiterung folgt 1989 mit dem Umzug der Produktion in die neue, größere Fertigungshalle im Daimler Ring 42. In den 90er Jahren werden weitere Firmen erworben, so die Fa. OTT Maschinentechnik in Lengenwang im Allgäu (1993), die Fa. GPA in Karlsruhe (1995) und die Fa. IPT Ionen- und Plasmatechnik in Kaiserslautern (1998). Daneben wird im Jahr 1995 die Firma JAKOB Vakuumtechnik gegründet. Das neue Verwaltungsgebäude im Daimler Ring 42 in Kleinwallstadt wird 1999 bezogen – neben JAKOB Antriebstechnik und JAKOB Vakuumtechnik ziehen in das neue Gebäude auch die Firmen IPT Ionen und Plasmatechnik und ENEMAC.

Zwei Jahre später wird die Firma ALLMATIC Spannungssysteme erworben, die 2005 in die neue Immobilie in Unterthingau umzieht. Im gleichen Jahr wird das neue Verwaltungsgebäude von OTT-Jakob in Lengenwang eröffnet. Firma Trenkle +Schneider in Pfronten wird 2006 übernommen, die im Jahr 2013 zusammen mit der ein Jahr zuvor erworbenen Firma Multitec zu Multitec-JAKOB verschmolzen wird. Während 2011 in Lengenwang die erweiterte Fertigungshalle von OTT-Jakob eröffnet wird, wird die Firma IPT Ionen- und Plasmatechnik wieder verkauft. Im März 2013 wird Rupert Hohm, bisher langjähriger Assistent der Geschäftsleitung, zum Geschäftsführer der JAKOB Antriebstechnik ernannt.
