New Yell App enables consumers to read and write reviews of businesses
Latest App version is now available on App store
The Yell App, which helps UK consumers search for local business information on the move, has also been completely redesigned with a fresh new look. The new version includes:
- New homepage shortcut icons, enhanced user navigation, interaction and performance - making it easier to access relevant business information on the move using "one thumb" operation;
- Extra local business content displayed including thousands of images, opening hours and details on services;
- Enhanced mapping with walking and driving directions and bus routes using Google maps.
Yell introduced the capability for consumers to review its online advertisers last year, as a powerful means by which consumers can make better informed decisions when selecting a business or service. Reliable feedback and content from consumers also supports small businesses by potentially driving sales leads, increasing loyalty and creating opportunities to improve satisfaction.
Using social media helps small businesses manage their reputation and create commercial opportunities, while at the same time helping consumers more easily connect and then transact with them. This approach is one of a number of key areas of focus for Yell as it moves to address the converging needs of SMEs and consumers.
Jason Smith, customer marketing director for Yell in the UK, said: "The original Yell App was very popular and had more than one million downloads. We have now included richer design and content and with the additional functionality of Yell reviews, it is now even easier and faster to find trusted information on local businesses and services in your local area."
The app can be downloaded free from the 'Lifestyle' category in the App Store here.

Yell also has other free Apps currently available on the App Store, including:
YellLabs - the App that uses advanced augmented reality technology to 'see' local shops, restaurants and other useful places through the iPhone's camera viewer.
Yell for Bikes - the App that helps find and return your nearest London Barclays Cycle Hire bike in seconds.
