Xeikon to exhibit at Printtek 2013

Highlights include self-adhesive labels, UV platesetters

Xeikon will be exhibiting at the Printtek 2013 International Fair, taking place in Istanbul (Turkey) from May 17 to 22. Visitors will have the opportunity to experience live demonstrations of Xeikon digital color printing systems, basysPrint computer-to-plate (CtP) UV platesetters and ThermoflexX digital platemaking systems for the flexographic market. Printtek 2013 will be held from at the TUYAP Fair and Congress Center, the biggest international fair and congress center in the Eurasia region. Xeikon will be located in Hall 2, Booth 219.

Visitors to the Xeikon booth will have the opportunity to see the first live demonstration of the VLF-UV Setter since its release at drupa 2012 in Germany, along with the full range of Xeikon offerings for the print and label markets.

Xeikon solutions that will be showcased at Printtek include:

- Xeikon 3300: Xeikon’s flagship narrow web-fed digital color press, producing label applications in a roll-to-roll configuration.
- basysPrint VLF M-F UV-Setter: For production of UV-sensitive offset printing plates from 8-up to VLF sizes for the commercial CTP market. Visitors will be able to experience the plate production process at the Xeikon booth.
- ThermoFlexX 30: High quality platemaking solution for the flexographic and letterpress markets.
- basysPrint 861x-F UV-Setter: A UV-Setter for the 8-up market will also be on display at the booth of Aras Grup, a Xeikon partner (Booth 301 (Hall 3).

Xeikon 3300: labels and packaging

The Xeikon 3300 is designed for the label and packaging market. Its high precision LED array imaging delivers true 1200 dpi resolution for the finest print quality. Unique full rotary printing technology and virtually unlimited variable repeat length deliver consistent throughput speeds regardless of the label size or the number of colors being imaged.

The Xeikon 3300 also prints on a wide range of substrates, including self-adhesive material, co-extruded films, Bopp, PVC and PET, paperboards and paper grades from 40 to 350 gsm, as well as transparent and opaque PET films. One-pass opaque white toner creates a 'no-label or label-less look' on transparent films. Xeikon QA-I toner meets all applicable FDA guidelines for indirect food contact under room temperature, as well as for direct food contact for dry food substances containing no surface oil or fat under the same conditions.

basysPrint CtP UV-setters for the digital imaging of small to VLF offset printing plates
In partnership with Sigma, a Xeikon dealer, Xeikon will be actively demonstrating the basysPrint VLF UV-Setter. The VLF series is available in three field-upgradeable versions, Manual (M), Semi-Automatic (SA) and Automatic (MCA) and can image plates from 200mm x 200mm up to 1485mm x 2100mm in size, a wider range than any other platesetter in the market, at 1500 or 2400 dpi...

The VLF M, the entry level model, with manual loading and unloading, will be showcased at the Xeikon booth, its first public display since its launch at drupa 2012.

The flEXpo (Flexible Exposure) option will be demonstrated live at the show. This option for the VLF manual version,offers the ability to load and unload one 8-up plate (or smaller) while simultaneously imaging another 8-up (or smaller) plate.

ThermoFlexX imagers offer industry standards for HD flexo

Also on display at the show will be thee Xeikon ThermoFlexX digital imager for imaging of flexographic and letterpress printing plates. ThermoFlexX is compatible with all commercial ablative masked photopolymer plate materials, whether solvent or water-wash, with no plate thickness limitation. Plates can be imaged at resolutions of 2540 or 5080 dpi, the newest industry standard for HD flexo. Advanced clamping design allows plates to be mounted directly on to the drum, while uniquely designed vacuum sliders offer the flexibility to use plates of any width, eliminating the need to cut plates to fit a dedicated vacuum zone. Its ergonomic plate mounting and hybrid drum holds plates in place either by vacuum or by magnetics.

basysPrint UV-Setters for multiple print applications

The flatbed basysPrint 861x-F UV-Setter will be on display at Aras Grup’s Booth 301 (Hall 3) at the show. This unique flatbed imager handles plate formats from as small as 200mm x 200mm up to a maximum 940mm x 1150mm. Its dual plate loading option enables loading and imaging two plates at the same time for a throughput of up to 145 plates per hour with improved productivity.

Its Dynamic Autofocus system handles plate undulation – even for substrate thicknesses up to 10mm –guaranteeing perfect focus depth across the total surface of the plate ensuring consistent exposure quality and a remote monitoring system that allows management and control via smartphones or tablets.

In addition to imaging UV plates for offset printing, the system can also image coating plates for spot varnish printing, photo-engraving magnesium or copper plates of thicknesses up to 10 mm for hot-foil stamping or embossing, screen meshes for all kinds of screen printing applications, and even dies for flexible die-cutting.

More than 60 plates from over 15 suppliers have already been tested and approved with basysPrint UV-Setters, which operate in the industry standard 405 nanometer wavelength range.
