Joint Appeal to all Stakeholders in Wind Power
The 3rd International Wind Conference and Exhibition (3rd WE20 by 2020) Exhibition- 5th to 7th February 2012, Conference - 6th and 7th February 2012, at CODISSIA Trade Fair Complex, Coimbatore, India, organized by Indian Wind Power Association (IWPA), and World Wind Energy Association (WWEA), Bonn, Germany.
IWPA and WWEA are organizing this (3rd WE20 By 2020) Wind Conference & Exhibition with the objective of finding technical, financial, commercial, policy and regulatory solutions to achieve 20% grid penetration in India by 2020, drawing in the best of the best from India and the World.
The Indian Wind Power Association (IWPA) is the apex wind energy association of the India with more than 1200 members, mostly comprising of investors, project developers and owners of wind farms across the country. Several other stake holders like the turbine manufacturers, ancillary equipment manufacturers and service providers, educational institutions are also the members of the Association. The Association's activities are governed by a National Council having 31 Members.
IWPA has countrywide presence with the National office at Chennai, Regional office at New Delhi and state offices at Mumbai, Hyderabad, Ahmadabad, Bengaluru and Jaipur. The main objective of the Association is to promote wind power in the Country.
Wind Industry in India
India is a leading country in wind energy development and has more than 15000 MW of installed capacity across the country. There is a strong and robust policy and regulatory mechanism to enable investments in wind farm projects. In the energy-environment sectors, the country continues to face formidable challenges and as a result, wind energy will continue to remain one of most important sectors. India has also emerged as the hub for expertise and knowhow in wind farm project implementation and equipment manufacturing. All leading wind turbine suppliers of the world have established manufacturing base in the country. An estimated 100,000 people are directly or indirectly employed by this industry.
The Conference and Exhibition planned is the Gateway to this established and growing market.
IWPA has already conducted two International events (Wind Energy Conference & Exhibition) in the past at New Delhi with resounding success in Feb 2010 and Feb 2011. These events were inaugurated by Dr. Farooq Abdullah, Honorable Minister, New and Renewable Energy, Government of India. We had speakers from all over the world and numerous delegates and a large number of stalls filled with exhibitors. Scientists, experts and academicians participated from across the country and key institutions of importance were involved.

"Wind Energy 20 BY 2020" is unique in many ways. The single objective is to achieve 20 % grid Penetration by year 2020 in India. The event is conducted each year till 2020 in an effort to find ways and means to help/enable reach this challenge target whether it be via technical policy or Financial/Commercial solutions and or any other innovative measures. As a results, "Wind Energy 20 BY 2020" seeks the best of the best experts from abroad and India to showcase, discuss and present the leading - edge technical, practical or policy solutions, which India needs to quickly adopt.
