The World Economic Forum today announces the launch of a new community, the Network of Global Future Councils, to provide insight and vision to tackle some of the world’s most critical global, regional and industry challenges and help prepare governments, businesses and communities for the arrival of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
The network consists of 35 distinct Global Future Councils, each comprising 25 members representing acknowledged leaders from across academia, government, business and civil society. With a two-year mandate, the role of the councils is to contribute analysis and generate ideas in support of the Forum’s 14 System Initiatives and its efforts to deepen understanding of the drivers and enablers that are shaping the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
“The Global Future Councils will help address today’s complex and urgent challenges by developing bold visions of ways we can use technology, values and policy to achieve the inclusive and sustainable outcomes our world needs,” said Jeremy Jurgens, Managing Director, World Economic Forum.
A full list of councils and members can be found here.
Members will convene physically for the first time at the Annual Meeting of Global Future Councils, held in collaboration with the Government of the United Arab Emirates, in Dubai on 13-14 November. Dubbed the “World’s largest brainstorm”, insights, ideas and recommendations generated by the councils will directly inform discussions at the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting 2017 in Davos-Klosters in January.
