WITTMANN BATTENFELD with its all-electric machines: a highly qualified medical technology partner
WITTMANN BATTENFELD at the Compamed in Düsseldorf
WITTMANN BATTENFELD can look back on many years of experience in medical product manufacturing and clean-room applications. Its all-electric machines from the EcoPower and MicroPower series are specially designed for fields of application such as medical technology.
At the Compamed in Düsseldorf, WITTMANN BATTENFELD will demonstrate its competence in medical technology in hall 08a, booth F19, using a MicroPower 15/7,5 as an example. On this machine, which is specially designed for high-precision injection molding of nano and micro parts, a medical clamp with a part weight of 0.003 g will be manufactured from POM supplied by Ticona within a cycle time of 4 seconds with a 4-cavity mold from Microsystems UK. The parts are removed by a W8VS2 WITTMANN robot, which has been specially developed for the highly dynamic and precise removal of small parts, and passed on to a camera integrated in the production cell and in the machine's control system for quality inspection. The parts are subsequently separated according to cavities and stacked in a stacking module.
In hall 08b, booth F03, POM paper clips will be produced on a MicroPower 15/7,5 with a 6-cavity mold from Microsystems UK within a cycle time of only 4 seconds. The finished parts will be ejected in free fall onto a conveyor belt. With this application, the company demonstrates the machine's extreme cost-efficiency in the production of small parts.
The MicroPower stands out by its extreme cost-efficiency, process reliability and speed, all factors that are vital for manufacturers of medical technology components. In this new machine generation, the injection aggregate is of special interest. This innovative two-step injection unit, consisting of a screw and a plunger, with a shot volume ranging from 0.05 to 4 cm³, injects thermally homogeneous melt, with the result of premium-quality parts from absolutely stable production with short cycle times. In addition to short cycle times and stability in the production process, the cost-efficiency of the MicroPower is further enhanced significantly by all of its peripheral equipment being specially adapted to the production of nano and micro parts.
The modular machine system consists of a basic platform that can be extended according to customers' needs with a rotary disk, parts removal handling, quality monitoring and a clean-room module, extendable up to a complete production cell. The machine's clean room-compatible design and the clean-room module, which provides clean air class 6 according to ISO 14644-1, are ideal for medical applications. In such applications, the parts are injection-molded, inspected and deposited within the clean-room compartment.
