Wincor Nixdorf Shows Retail Industry's First Fully Customizable POS Solutions at NRF Big Show 2012

New Level of Customization Meets Growing Demand for Flexibility at the Checkout; Options for Any Retail Environment include Automated Checkout

Austin, Texas, (PresseBox) - Driven by the retail industry's growing demand for flexibility at the checkout, Wincor Nixdorf will introduce an entirely new level of customization for retail POS and self-checkout solutions at the National Retail Federation's 2012 Big Show in New York, January 16-17.

Wincor Nixdorf's entirely modular in-store technology solutions are available in fully customized design configurations to meet virtually any retail shape, size or environment with flexible mixes of self-service and checker-driven checkout and payment functionality based on the established platform of the Tower Line 150 modular series. The advanced customization options are supported by Wincor Nixdorf's partnership with Royston LLC, the industry leader in the design, manufacture and installation of advanced retail store interiors and DataLogic, the globally recognized world leader in Automatic Data Capture and Industrial Automation.

"Today's winning retailers are exploring every option for creating the best possible customer shopping experience, and that includes tailoring the design of the checkout lane to reflect the size, shape, traffic flow and overall personality of diverse in-store environments," said Oliver Weber of Wincor Nixdorf U.S. "By combining the modular components of the Automated Checkout solutions with the design expertise of our partners at Royston, we can effectively offer limitless variations of checkout designs and configurations for virtually any type of store. Retailers can choose from multiple options for self- or assisted checkout, when and where customers pay for their purchases and seamlessly incorporate the checkout into each individual store's look and feel."

One of the key features of Wincor Nixdorf's offerings is the capability to offer Automated Checkout solutions for all store formats and segments like the new Tower Line 50 with a very small footprint for the convenience area or the 360 Scan Portal for high-volumes. This fully automatic scanning checkout solution with 360-degree scanning technology, promises to be a checkout game changer. The 360 Scan Portal speeds consumers through the checkout line, providing them with an enhanced overall shopping experience, while greatly improving operational efficiency for retailers. With Wincor Nixdorf's fully customizable 360 Scan Portal, retailers can repurpose front-end personnel and reduce space requirement. The 360 Scan Portal significantly increases throughput by automating both the scanning and tendering processes, and operates at roughly twice the speed of conventional checkout systems. The customized POS solutions can also be integrated with Wincor Nixdorf's modular cash management solutions, which allow cash processes in retail companies to be largely automated for the first time, enabling cash cycles to be closed and the simplification of the cash logistics chain. Wincor Nixdorf's focus on customization supports the industry's growing emphasis on deepening long-term customer relationships, enabled in part by high-performance technology.

"U.S. consumers prefer highly personalized shopping experiences - from the availability of information throughout the store to the details of the checkout lane," Oliver Weber said. "Our extensive fully customizable offerings allow the retailer to carefully design the ideal customer shopping experience for enhanced loyalty while optimizing their overall IT processes and controlling costs at the store and head office levels."

Wincor Nixdorf will demonstrate these and at the NRF show, January 16-17 at Exhibit Booth #451 in New York City's Jacob Javits Convention Center.
