New functions, optimum workflow: Wincor Nixdorf presents the updated Postal Solution Suite

At Post-Expo 2012, the leading international trade fair for the postal sector being held in Brussels from September 18 to 20, Wincor Nixdorf is presenting its updated Postal Solution Suite, extended by a range of different functions. This solution addresses the branch networks of international postal organizations and maps the sales and service processes for all types of branches and points of service. It combines the software components needed for postal processes with the functions of standard retail points of sale.

The three main new aspects of Wincor Nixdorf's enhanced Postal Solution Suite are being presented at Post-Expo 2012. In the Postage Calculator module the pricing process for postal consignments has been made more flexible and hence easier for staff to handle. The new version of this software allows the postage to be calculated by stepping into any of various relevant factors such as country of destination and type, weight or size of consignment. Additional services can then be chosen, such as registered mail, express delivery or insurance. This speeds up the pricing process and allows postal staff to deal quickly and individually with special customer requests.

The Customer Loyalty tool is a useful addition to the Postal Solution Suite that makes it much easier for staff to look after registered private or business customers. This component supports individualized and preferential treatment for customers at post offices. It also helps a postal organization to realign its range of services to new customer requirements at any time.

And finally, the Postal Solution Suite's Counter application provides a new function for processing bulk mailings. It can be used to enter data about the consignment type, original sender, any intermediate agency, recipients, billing and payment. In addition, if a customer has already been registered for this service, the contract data is retrieved automatically. As in all other functions of the Postal Solution Suite, Wincor Nixdorf places particular importance on fast and smooth workflows. To ensure this, the integrated Workflow Engine runs through the subsequent logical steps in all processes - for registered mail, for instance, entry of the sender's and recipient's addresses, followed by printing of the label and then payment by the customer. Supported by the system, the postal employees can work fast and error-free.

Over 30 international postal organizations worldwide now rely on the Wincor Nixdorf branch solution. As an expert in branch matters, Wincor Nixdorf has set up a separate business unit to deal with the specific requirements of international postal organizations and reaps benefits from the experience gained in its core business with banks and retail companies. In addition to equipping postal counters with hardware and software, Wincor Nixdorf also provides other solutions such as terminals to shift recurrent business operations to self-service.
