WABCO Enhances its Award-Winning TrailerGUARD Telematics Technology
Showcases Innovation for Trailer Remote Diagnostics at SITL 2012 in Paris
TrailerGUARD combines the remote diagnosis of the trailer braking system with other vehicle operating data. It allows fleet managers to monitor and track status of brake wear, mileage, trailer temperature, doors, tire pressure, axle load and the trailer's electronic braking system (EBS), among other operating functions.
TrailerGUARD's new remote diagnostics function is the first of its kind for trailer braking systems. It allows remote diagnosis of the trailer braking system by providing information on the trailer's technical status in real-time. Fleet operators receive a diagnostic code directly via the TrailerGUARD portal, a simple and easy-to-use internet portal. It allows operators to decide whether to replace or repair the trailer before it suffers serious damage. Operators can also provide technical advice to the driver by phone. TrailerGUARD, with its new remote diagnostics function, enables real-time support during transport and instant problem solving.
Workshops can also remotely download the vehicle's diagnostic code history even before the vehicle is in the workshop, ensuring that the necessary spare parts are available. It optimizes maintenance efforts, resulting in reduced downtime and lower related costs.
"Powered by our passion for innovation, we develop and deliver advanced technologies that help transport professionals to increase return on their investment while improving driver safety and reducing operating costs," said Nick Rens, WABCO Vice President, Aftermarket and Trailer Systems. "With its new remote diagnostics function, TrailerGUARD sets the industry's benchmark for end-user benefits and helps customers to further optimize utilization of their assets through improved vehicle safety and efficiency."
TrailerGUARD telematics is part of WABCO's award-winning Intelligent Trailer Program which offers trailer customers a complete portfolio of braking and air suspension systems with all important functions for improved safety and efficiency for all types of trailers.
Among 25 functions, WABCO's Intelligent Trailer Program features latest innovations in trailer technologies such as TrailerGUARD(TM) , a new technology that detects small, large, static and moving objects in the blind spot behind the trailer during reversing operations and automatically stops the trailer to avoid a potential collision, and Emergency Brake Alert to warn trailing drivers during hard braking in order to reduce the risk of rear-end collisions.
