Vuzix and Evolar Introduce smartpick for the Enterprise and Industrial Markets
Delivering a More Efficient Method for Order Picking with the M100 Smart Glasses; Current Customer Reports a 60% Reduction in Error-Rates and a 25% in Increased Productivity
Demand for order picking systems has increased as millions of businesses seek more efficient processes for their order fulfillments. From car factories selecting auto parts to an e-trader selecting products from its warehouse for distribution, there is always a need for a system that enables the picker to be more productive.
Many current technology systems require the picker to hold a device in one hand and pick with the other. The smartpick offering from Evolar, which includes the Vuzix M100 Smart Glasses and the pre-installed licensed application, now gives the picker the ability to use both hands, meaning that even fragile orders can be picked with ease. With significantly less investment costs and more enhanced benefits than other hands-free solutions such as Light Picking or Voice Picking, the smartpick enables picking teams to be up and running after only 15 minutes of training.
One Belgian company, Bio Bakkerij DeTrog has already implemented smartpick and the Vuzix M100 glasses into its busy organic bakery and has reported significant operational benefits. This bakery sorts and picks 50 different types of bread, which are distributed across 150 outlets 24 hours a day. Since using smartpick, it has managed to reduce its error rate by 60% and has increased productivity by 25%. It has also noted that as a result, its pickers are less stressed within the workplace.
Dirk Matheussen, Founder of Evolar said, "smartpick is the ideal application to showcase the Vuzix M100 capabilities. As it is 100% cloud based, organizations do not need any additional infrastructure requirements. Simply an ERP or WMS system to access order data, a printer and a Wi-Fi connection and they're ready to improve operational efficiency. We're delighted to be able to offer such a beneficial solution to the industry."
Paul Travers, President and CEO of Vuzix said, "It's fantastic to be the hardware partner of choice for the smartpick application. Order fulfilment can be the most expensive, critical, and time-consuming part of the business operations process and smartpick is a fantastic tool for any organization that has some form of picking requirement. Developers like Dirk and his team are the ideal partner for Vuzix going forward. We are building up an interesting group of organizations that have useful and viable applications for the M100 device and we look forward to a long, prosperous partnership together."
