75 years VOSS - Experience plus ideas
From a tiny business to the international VOSS group / Developments aligned to the market and to customers create constant growth / In business for 75 years
In 1953 the 26 year old son of the founder, Hans Hermann Voss, joined the company. He set a milestone in the history of VOSS by moving production into components for the commercial vehicle industry and into tube fittings for hydraulic systems used in construction, machine tool and other machinery.
When in 1967 it became clear that - even for VOSS - the growth phase of the 1950´s was coming to an end, the company reacted to this economic slowdown in the domestic market with the founding of subsidiaries in Europe and overseas. Over the years the VOSS group has developed into an international company.
Until the end of the 1980´s VOSS exclusively served the commercial vehicle and mechanical engineering markets. At the 1989 International Automotive Exhibition (IAA) in Frankfurt in addition to the traditional connection systems, valves and manifolds for the commercial vehicle industry VOSS presented its first products for the passenger vehicle market.
To enable VOSS to handle the different target markets of the mechanical engineering and the automotive industries, the company separated the machinery components division from the fittings division on January 1st, 1999. Thereafter, VOSS Fluid was created.
In 2001 the Armaturenfabrik changed its name to VOSS Automotive GmbH with the objective of giving the global business a self-explanatory name and clearly describing the company's market orientation.
VOSS Automotive and VOSS Fluid are operated by the VOSS Holding GmbH & Co. KG, with representative subsidiaries in the most important markets worldwide.
Developing innovative products VOSS Automotive has set several market standards in the line and connection technology for commercial and passenger vehicles. For example, almost 50% of the commercial vehicles in Europe are equipped with VOSS quick connect systems for pneumatic brakes.
All European passenger vehicles with air suspension are built with VOSS components. Furthermore, VOSS Automotive also operates in the fields of fuel and new technologies. VOSS provides amongst others fully assembled line sets, consisting of urea lines which are heated electrically or with cooling water. Connectors for CO2 air-conditioning systems as well as for hydrogen and fuel cell propulsion are a further development project for the next generations of vehicle.
VOSS Fluid is a leading supplier of hydraulic coupling technology and works with its users, as their system partner, from the development stage through to series production. In the hydraulic couplings sector VOSS Fluid supplies a wide range of screw couplings including cutting rings, taper couplings and flared joints, as well as flanged couplings. The new VOSSFormSQR is a soft sealing tube coupling that meets the latest requirements of hydraulic couplings in safety, quality and profitability.
In its 75th year, VOSS operates in 12 countries on three continents, employing over 1000 people for the international vehicle manufacturing and mechanical engineering industries. Every employee is hugely committed towards building the future of the VOSS Group.
