In Leipzig wurde heute der "eCar Award 2012" verliehen: Ausgezeichnet wurde in der Kategorie "Bestes Plug-In-Hybrid Auto, Konzeptfahrzeuge" das Volkswagen Cross Coupé - eine Studie, die einen sparsamen TDI-Plug-In Hybrid Antrieb mit kraftvollem Design kombiniert.

Das Cross Coupé mit Plug-In-Hybrid Technologie ist eine wegweisende Studie, die perfekt Sparsamkeit und anspruchsvolle Fahrdynamik vereint: Angetrieben aus einer Allianz von einem Turbodiesel-Direkteinspritzer (TDI) und zwei Elektromotoren, beeindruckt das sportliche Cross Coupé mit einem sensationell niedrigen Durchschnittsverbrauch von 1,8 Litern/100 km im neuen europäischen Fahrzyklus (NEFZ).
