VKU: Ressourcenschutz muss Vorrang haben

Novellierung der Grundwasserverordnung

Anlässlich der morgigen Sitzung des Bundeskabinetts zur Verabschiedung der Grundwasserverordnung appelliert der Verband kommunaler Unternehmen (VKU) eindringlich an die Bundesregierung, den Ressourcenschutz ernst zu nehmen. "Der jetzige Entwurf der Grundwasserverordnung reicht nicht aus, um einen umfassenden Grundwasserschutz sicherzustellen. Flächendeckende Einträge, beispielsweise durch die Landwirtschaft, werden vollkommen ausgeblendet", kritisierte VKU-Hauptgeschäftsführer Hans-Joachim Reck den Kabinettsentwurf. "Die neue Grundwasserverordnung bietet die Chance, das Verursacherprinzip gesetzlich zu verankern und alle Gewässernutzer zum Ressourcenschutz zu verpflichten", betonte Reck weiter. Das Bundeskabinett müsse diese Chance jetzt nutzen.

Rund 70 Prozent des Trinkwassers werden in Deutschland aus Grund- und Quellwasser gewonnen.
