Valimo, the global market leader in mobile ID solutions, and DigiNotar, the market leader in Internet Trust Services in the Netherlands, jointly introduce mobile authentication and signing solutions for the Dutch market. The new Mobile Signature Service Platform, MSSP, extends the current online signature portal to mobile channel and provides authorities and enterprises safe mobile authentication, enabling the use of mobile phones in any service requiring personal authentication, identification or a legally binding signature.

DigiNotar is a pioneer in the Dutch market, being the first to adopt mobile ID and signature technology. The company is evaluating the prospects of expanding the service also to other European countries, such as Germany. For Valimo, the co-operation with DigiNotar marks the company's entry to the Dutch market. DigiNotar will demonstrate MobilePKI at CeBIT in Hannover from 3 to 8 March, stand C045 in hall 11.

"Our customers are already accustomed to use legally binding electronic signatures in several areas. By expanding the services to mobile, DigiNotar becomes one of the pioneers to offer flexible mobile signature solutions. We see great benefits in the increased level of security and convenience this technology offers our customers. With one mobile device, customers can use electronic signature and authentication where ever they are. Many of our customers are situated in finance, enterprise, e-government and e-commerce sectors. This offers efficiency and commercial opportunities for them," says Tony de Bos, CEO of DigiNotar.

MSSP utilises Valimo's Mobile ID technology, which has been internationally acknowledged as a safe authentication method.

"Need for improved efficiency increases the push for digital authentication and signing, which is also a key enabler for e-government initiatives. Valimo Mobile ID is ideal for example for authorising mobile payments, using bank and e-government services or authenticate safely to enterprise networks and databases, as it is secure and convenient for service providers and end-users,” comments Juha Murtopuro, CEO of Valimo.

Valimo Mobile ID can be used in any service requiring personal authentication, identification or a legally binding signature. It is based on Wireless Public Key Infrastructure (WPKI) technology. Valimo is the global market leader in Mobile ID solutions in terms of both installation base and number of active users. Valimo solutions are used by operators, banks, enterprises, public sector, e-commerce and other service providers throughout the world.

Valimo mobile signature can be used with all mobile phones and devices with a SIM card or other secure storage inside. It enables a safe and reliable digital authentication that replaces various tokens, password and code lists. When using an online service requiring authentication or digital signing, the request is sent to the user’s mobile phone using secured SMS technology. The message pops up on the phone screen, asking the user to confirm his or her identity or approval by entering his or her personal PIN code. If the device is lost or stolen the services cannot be accessed without re-entering the sign in PIN.
