Universitätsklinikum bringt Spitzenforscher in Leipzig zusammen

Rund 100 Ärzte und Wissenschaftler aus Europa, den USA und Kanada werden zum 4. Internationalen Symposium für Multiple Sklerose und Myelin-Krankheiten am 9. und 10. November in Leipzig erwartet. "Unsere wissenschaftliche Tagung ist ein Signal, dass in Leipzig ein bundesweit einmaliges Forschungs- und Behandlungszentrum für Myelin-Erkrankungen aufgebaut wird", sagt Wolfgang Köhler von der Klinik und Poliklinik für Neurologie am Universitätsklinikum Leipzig. "Für die Betroffenen, also MS-Patienten und an Leukodystrophien Erkrankte, sind interdisziplinäre Forschung und Behandlung der Schlüssel zum Erfolg."

Aktuell werden am Universitätsklinikum große Anstrengungen unternommen, den diagnostischen und therapeutischen Herausforderungen seltener Erkrankungen der weißen Hirnsubstanz gerecht zu werden.
