Uhde Inventa-Fischer to build world's first commercial-scale plant for the production of flame-retardant Nofia(TM) for FRX Polymers Europe, NV

(PresseBox) ( Berlin, )
The plant engineering and construction company, Uhde Inventa-Fischer, has won a turnkey contract to build the world's first commercial-scale plant for production of Nofia(TM) , an inherently flame retarding polymer (polyphosphonate - PPhos) used as a blend component to impart flame retardancy to other host plastics, for the Belgian subsidiary of US-based FRX Polymers, Inc.. The plant will be located in Antwerp, Belgium, and will use FRX Polymers, Inc. proprietary, patented polycondensation process. This flameretardant polymer, which will be marketed under the trademark Nofia(TM) , is ecofriendly, halogen-free, transparent and inherently flame-resistant, making it highly suited for use in the building, transportation as well as in the electronic and electrical industries.

Uhde Inventa-Fischer and FRX Polymers, Inc. have been collaborating closely in the development and optimization of research-intensive, flame-retardant specialty polymers since many years. "Right from the start, we could clearly sense Uhde Inventa-Fischer's strong commitment to our joint success," said Marc Lebel, President and CEO of FRX Polymers, Inc.. "We are extremely pleased to be on course for expansion with a partner like Uhde Inventa-Fischer at our side".

Uhde Inventa-Fischer's scope of supplies will include the basic and detail engineering, supply of all equipment and components, the construction and mechanical completion of the plant. The civil engineering will be carried out by ThyssenKrupp Uhde GmbH.

FRX Polymers, Inc. was founded in 2007 following over five years of intensive research and development in the field of inherently flame retardant plastics. The company operates two pilot plants in Chelmsford, MA and a semi-works plant in Switzerland. FRX is in the growth phase of its evolution and is commercializing a novel family of non-halogen, transparent, high melt flowing, fire resistant plastics. FRX Polymers is headquartered in Chelmsford, MA. For more information about its products, visit their website at www.frxpolymers.com.
