Northwest branch of OJSC “MegaFon” and Trafficland Ltd. announce a commercial launch of OTA WiTS™
Trafficland Ltd. and the leading Russian cellular operator “MegaFon” announce commercial launch of OTA WiTS™
Integration of WiTS™ platform to the “MegaFon” network was finished successfully and the OTA platform was put in commercial operation. This innovative platform solution from Trafficland Ltd. is capable to work with 40-million subscribers simultaneously and operated by Northwest branch of OJSC “MegaFon”.
Despite running on relatively small servers, this WiTS™ configuration has very good throughput thus setting-up new standards of efficiency on one-host OTA systems.
Thanks to a perfect integration with “MegaFon” switching equipment, Trafficland WiTS™ is able to
- Fully avoid of integration with regional operator’s billing servers. Thanks to the new software version of WiTS™, the process of binding of subscriber data (IMSI and MSISDN) and their accumulation in OTA database, is being done automatically, by the OTA platform itself;
- Ensure rational use of a signaling capacity – Trafficland WiTS™ utilizes only free and predefined capacity;
- Thanks to network alerting, WiTS™ works with subscribers only when they are available and ready to receive OTA-commands, data and applets.
In addition to it, OJSC “MegaFon” will be able to execute OTA campaigns knowing if any OTA-able SIM is on and served by home network or roaming partner. In the latter case, WiTS™ can be tuned to avoid any OTA-traffic to roaming networks or, on the contrary, to dynamically manage preferred and forbidden network list in order to guide subscriber for using the best roaming partner.
“MegaFon” preferred Trafficland technology for its effectiveness. Being very small and cheap, WiTS™ platform allows to simultaneously serve 40 million subscribers and guarantee reliable download of Java applets and data to the SIM no matter of their size. Solution provided by Trafficland is universal and compatible with most of SIM cards available on the market. It can remotely re-allocate “MegaFon” SIM-card memory between files and folders of SIM. Thanks to WiTS™ platform, “MegaFon” has no more limitations in development of value-added services which rely on SIM and USIM with high capacity of memory.
«We are very glad to continue our fruitful business relationships with OJSC “MegaFon”. This time we provided to our partner the most advanced solution Trafficland has. I’m sure, that throughput and effectiveness of our system will allow OJSC “MegaFon” to highly decrease the OTA-related traffic from their SMSCs and bring a number of unique and competitive services. Our competence and technology shall help our partners to become undeniable leaders.” – said Juliy Kuznetsov, Commercial Director of Trafficland Ltd.
