TNT receives the "Cargo Climate Care Award"
The prize from Lufthansa Cargo rewards the Express division's environmental efforts
Despite the economic downturn, TNT is determined to continue to minimise its footprint on the environment by adopting low-carbon technologies and more efficient use of energy where appropriate. TNT continues to seek out new and progressive ways of meeting the challenges of environmental sustainability in transportation, working with customers towards sustainable supply-chains, and exploring innovative solutions to reduce its CO2 footprint.
In Asia, for instance, TNT's Express division is conducting a trial of battery-electric delivery vans in the city of Wuhan, China, in partnership with a large Chinese automaker and manufacturer of electric vehicles. TNT's environmental management system and associated goals are supported through the company's "Planet Me" programme and related initiatives. Planet Me was launched externally in 2007.
