Erstes U-Boot der Klasse 214 an die Marine der Republik Korea abgeliefert

Am 26. Dezember 2007 hat die Marine der Republik Korea das erste von drei U-Booten der Klasse 214 mit außenluftunabhängigem Brennstoffzellenantrieb übernommen.
Das Design sowie wesentliche Zulieferungen für dieses U-Boot stammen von der Kieler Howaldtswerke-Deutsche Werft (HDW), einem Unternehmen von ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems. Die U-Boote der Klasse 214 für die Republik Korea werden unter HDW-Lizenz auf der Werft Hyundai Heavy Industries Ltd. Co. in Ulsan (Südkorea) gebaut. Das Boot mit dem Namen "SON WON IL" ergänzt die bisher aus neun Einheiten der Klasse 209 bestehenden U-Bootflottille der Marine der Republik Korea.
