Thermo Fisher Scientific Demonstrates New Thermo Scientific Niton FXL Field X-ray Lab for Mining and Exploration at PDAC 2011
Compact Unit is Easy to Use, Portable and Provides Lab-quality Performance for Rapid Geochemical Analysis Onsite
"More than 2,000 of our Niton XRF analyzers are already deployed in the global mining industry. With the introduction of the Niton FXL field x-ray lab, mining companies of any size can access a range of products, both field-mobile and handheld, that are engineered from the ground up to withstand harsh mining environments, reduce laboratory costs and improve efficiency," said Marc Tremblay, vice president/general manager for Thermo Scientific Niton Analyzers.
Tremblay continued, "The Niton FXL analyzer is ideal for advanced exploration and drilling, industrial mineral mining and oil and gas exploration. Additionally, our unique Thermo Scientific TestAll Geo technology automatically determines the correct analytical test mode for rapid analysis of major and minor elements in geological samples. All of our analyzers have the proven ability to quickly and reliably provide rapid testing solutions, which accrue from the instruments' portability, ease-of-use, speed and nondestructive nature."
As part of the PDAC Exhibitors Innovation Forum, Keith Grattan, president of Elemental Controls, will deliver a presentation, "Benefits of Using Handheld Thermo Scientific Niton XRF Analyzers for Rare Earth Element (REE) Exploration," on March 8, 2011 at 11:40 a.m. at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, South Building, Hall D, Aisle 1300, booth #1349.
Thermo Scientific Niton FXL Field X-ray Lab The Thermo Scientific Niton FXL Series field x-ray lab delivers XRF-based elemental analysis with lab-quality testing performance and low levels of detection for up to 40 critical elements. Housed in a compact, portable package that can be operated virtually anywhere onsite, this elemental analysis lab offers outstanding performance, features and mobility.
- True lab-quality performance with superior limits of detection
- Nondestructive with accurate, consistent elemental analysis in minutes - or less
- Easy to use, with little operator training required
- Lightweight and ruggedly designed for field and manufacturing operations
- Available with 1 mm, 3 mm and 8 mm spot sizes
- Sample spinner for reducing sample heterogeneity issues due to particle size
- Closed-beam design requires minimal licensing in most countries
The Niton FXL is constructed from durable Lexan* plastic that is both dust- and water-resistant to operate flawlessly in harsh environments. Compact and weighing less than 30 pounds (14 kg), it's easy to transport and operate from the back of a truck, mounted on a portable tripod or in an on-site lab. The Niton FXL is based on our proven, purpose-built software: there's no PC required, alleviating the worry of a computer crash and loss of data. Not only does this breakthrough instrument include advanced batteries that support extended continuous operation on a single charge, it is also free of air filters that can clog if not maintained.
A Family of Handheld Thermo Scientific Niton XRF Analyzers
Handheld, award-winning Niton XL2 Series and Niton XL3 Series XRF analyzers, both available with GOLDD technology, are engineered for taking measurements anywhere, anytime, with accurate results available in seconds, saving significant expense compared to traditional laboratory testing. These easy-to-use, nondestructive instruments provide integrated storage of all test results, which are completely tamperproof. Multiple communication options are incorporated, including Bluetooth* wireless and USB communications.
Both analyzers also come standard with Thermo Scientific Niton Data Transfer (NDT©) software, a suite of data management utilities that allows users to set operator permissions, print certificates of analysis to document results, export data into standard formats (.csv or MS Excel*), or operate the analyzer remotely from a PC. The NDT file format preserves and protects the original data from each sample analysis, ensuring that data is not unintentionally or intentionally compromised.
Thermo Fisher Scientific customers are served through corporate resources and a dedicated network of more than 70 distributors and 30 factory-trained service centers around the world. Thermo Scientific Niton analyzers are available in a range of configurations and with an assortment of optional features and accessories to suit a wide variety of analytical needs.
