Savile Row influence on Cycle Chic

The Cambridge Raincoat Co is where haute couture meets cycle chic

Little Shelford, Cambridge, (PresseBox) - The philosophy behind cycle chic is that you can look as stylish on your bike as you do in the rest of your life (see Copenhagen Cycle Chic where it all started - www.copenhagencyclechic.com ). But picture the challenge on a dull, wet day. What will you wear? Ordinary waterproof jacket - too short, you still end up with wet legs. Ordinary mac - too heavy, not waterproof enough. Waterproof trousers - unflattering and you very quickly get hot and sweaty. You probably need a hi-vis jacket as well to make you visible. Then there's the problem of arriving at your destination looking truly geeky - and what do you do with all that wet stuff once you're there?

It's not appealing is it? Most of us will probably choose another way of getting around on wet days as a result. Yet that was all there was on offer - until now.

Now there is one garment which is chic and stylish enough for anyone to wear on any occasion whether they cycle or not. Designed by Elizabeth Radcliffe (Savile Row trained), it's available in four stunningly bright colours so you can dispense with the hi-vis. There are optional reflective features designed by RCA graduates and it's long enough to keep your knees dry when riding an upright bike. It's made in a very lightweight, waterproof fabric which is also windproof and breathable which means it keeps you warm in cold weather but not hot and sweaty in warm, wet weather. It's also washable and has a groovy, polka dot lining in co-ordinating colours.

The Cambridge Raincoat Co is where haute couture meets cycle chic, brightening up everyone's rainy day! (And with the price of petrol being what it is, we do need a practical way of cheering up wet days.)
