The use of steel in vehicle construction is the focus of the „International Conference on Steels in Cars and Trucks“ (SCT 2017) from June 18 to 22, 2017, in Amsterdam-Schiphol. The event hosted by the Steel Institute VDEh in Düsseldorf, which is taking place for the fifth time in 2017, again offers about 150 lectures from proven experts as well as an accompanying exhibition. About 400 international attendees are expected. The venue is the NH Conference Centre Leeuwenhorst, close to Amsterdam-Schiphol Airport, the Netherlands. Current information is available on the website www.sct2017.com.

The first SCT took place in Wiesbaden in 2005. This event was designed to provide a platform for an exchange between steel and automobile manufacturers and suppliers as well as scientists from universities and research institutes. This objective was achieved by the successful events of 2005, 2008, 2011 and 2014. The program has become more comprehensive from one conference to another. The number of exhibitors and participants has also increased simultaneously.

The automotive industry and their suppliers are still facing considerable and ever-growing challenges. The demand for better safety, increased efficiency, emission reduction, greater profitability and electric mobility place new restrictions on the materials used in cars and trucks. The SCT provides the opportunity to find the answers for the steel industry on this: Examples include new steel types with excellent mechanical and processing properties or innovative concepts with lightweight construction.

The SCT will once have again four main topics: Steel Components in Cars and Trucks, Manufacturing of Components, New Steels as well as Modelling, Simulation and Testing. The Call for Papers was extremely successful with more than 160 lectures being submitted. For all topics excellent proposals were received which - following evaluation by the program committee - have been put together in an interesting program.

It has already become clear that the program of the SCT 2017 will be even more comprehensive than in previous years. You can look forward to many interesting lectures from top-class speakers. Information will be given on interesting trends. In short: The SCT 2017 will again be an inspiring event that is not to be missed. In January 2017, the program will be published on the website www.sct2017.com. Registration will then also be possible online via the website.

The following sponsors are supporting the SCT 2017: TATA Steel, Georgsmarienhütte GmbH, SSAB EMEA AB, Saarstahl AG, Matplus GmbH. Numerous other companies will be present as exhibitors. Further sponsors and exhibitors are welcome.
