o2 startet erstes LTE-Pilotnetz

Telefónica o2 Germany hat in München sein erstes Pilotnetz für den neuen Mobilfunkstandard LTE (Long Term Evolution) in Betrieb genommen. Bei den Internet-Downloads erzielt es Übertragungsraten von fast 100 Megabit pro Sekunde - das ist das Fünffache der heute möglichen HSDPA-Geschwindigkeit. Diese Kapazitätssteigerung ist besonders bei datenintensiven HD-Videos, Online-Computerspielen, Live-Streamings und großen Downloads spürbar.

CEO René Schuster stieg persönlich auf das Dach des o2-Gebäudes am Georg-Brauchle-Ring, um sich bei einer Videokonferenz in HD-Qualität von der rasanten Geschwindigkeit des neuen Netzes zu überzeugen.
