World's First Tunable RF Module in AMC Form Factor

(PresseBox) (Dresden, ) Signalion GmbH, Germany, provides the world's first tunable RF module in AMC (advanced mezzanine card) form factor, the AMC-SRRM.

"The RF module can be used in any Micro-TCA system and is ready to interwork with any other AMC card such as processor or FPGA cards. It is designed for software defined radio and its availability revolutionizes the design of high-performance wireless systems for purposes like test and measurement or wireless infrastructure. This card is the first in a family of Signalion RFcards, which serves various wireless standards e.g. WiMAX, LTE and LTE-A", says René Nüssgen, the responsible Product Manager for Signalion's SRRM product family.

The AMC-SRRM is the world's first off-the-shelf module in AMC form factor for RF processing. It comprises one transmitter and one receiver path. Beside the RF processing it contains AD and DA converters as well as a digital processing unit for front-end processing tasks. Particular care has been taken to provide means for synchronization to realize MIMO systems with a virtually unlimited number of antennas.

"Our goal was to completely release the digital designers from bothering with RF issues. It is truly an 'RF module for the digital guys'", says Matthias Henker, the project leader.
