Signalion pushes LTE development with Ready-to-use test equipment

(PresseBox) (Dresden, ) 3GPP-LTE (Long Term Evolution) was the major topic of this year s Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. Key players such as Ericsson, Nokia Siemens Networks, or Alcatel-Lucent focused on the successor of the current UMTS technology which is expected to be ready for commercial rollout in 2010.

Signalion, as a member of the LTE/SAE Trial Initiative (LSTI), has taken another step beyond 3G by presenting cutting-edge LTE test technology. The company introduced its SORBAS LTE Test- UE platform at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona in a joint over-the-air LTE -demonstration together with Alcatel-Lucent showing HD-Video transmission using advanced MIMO-concepts.The SORBAS LTE Test-UE platform is the basis for LTE infrastructure testing solutions offered by Signalion and its partners.

Joint demonstrations and presentations by Rohde & Schwarz and Signalion vividly demonstrated the conformance of the SORBAS LTE Test-UE platform with the current status of the LTE standard. Furthermore Signalion exhibited full air-interface diagnostics solutions in cooperation with Tektronix and Catapult. These unique solutions combine comprehensive physical layer testing with well established protocol test equipment to enable down-to-the-single-bit testing and cross optimization of all layers of LTE infrastructure.

After the exhibition, Signalion s CEO Dr Tim Hentschel expressed himself very satisfied with the show and as: "very pleased after highly stimulating conversations with clients and partners.".

About LTE:

3GPP-LTE (Long Term Evolution), a cellular standard currently being standardized as the successor of the current UMTS technology, will enable peak data rates of up to 300 megabits per second, extremely low latency, and an efficient use of the frequency spectrum by the operators.

This new technology for cellular network access will enhance the current W-CDMA standard with OFDM technology and will coexist with 2G and 3G networks. 3GPP-LTE radio networks are expected to be ready for the market by 2010. The new standard ensures the long-term competitiveness of UMTS. It will enable new services such as the delivery of high-definition videos to mobile devices. The 3GPP-LTE standardization is still ongoing.
