Siemens to supply mechanical and electrical equipment for new bar mill in Armenia
Siemens is supplying the complete rolling line for the new ASCE bar mill, including the furnace for reheating the billets. The roughing mill is designed as a reversing, two-high Red Ring sliding stand. The continuous part of the line consists of an HV-arranged four-stand intermediate mill and an HVC-arranged, six-stand finishing mill. There will also be crop shears and an inline bar quenching and tempering system. In the cooling area, Siemens will install a dividing shear, a 42 meter long and 8 meter wide cooling bed, a stationary cold shear, and bar bundling and handling units.
The scope of supply also includes the electrical equipment as from the medium voltage switchgear, including the main and auxiliary drives and motors. The project also includes the mill automation, as well as mechatronic packages for all the rolling stands, the shears and the quenching and tempering system. The mechatronic packages are based on the Siroll LR solution concept specifically developed for long-product rolling mills. The project is complemented by a water treatment plant designed and supplied by Siemens, the fluid systems, and consulting services for the construction and commissioning of the rolling mill.
The rolling mill is designed for an annual production of 125,000 tons of rebars ranging in diameter from 8 to 32 millimeters. Bars with diameters of 8, 10 and 12 millimeters will be rolled in two- or three-slit mode to increase productivity. The project will be carried out by Siemens VAI in cooperation with Siemens Russia.
ASCE Group OJSC is the market leader in scrap recycling in Armenia. The company runs an electric arc furnace based minimill meltshop in Charentsavan, the new rolling mill will complete their steel process till the finished product.
