Siemens to build combined cycle power plant in the Netherlands for about €700 million
"I am very happy that Enecogen's specific requirements fit perfectly with our reliable, sound and environmentally friendly power plant concept," said Michael Suess, CEO of the Fossil Power Generation Division of Siemens Energy. Enecogen is a partnership of the Dutch utility ENECO and the Danish utility DONG Energy. In addition to the main components - gas turbine, steam turbine and generator - Siemens will also supply the entire electrical and I&C systems and hand over the power plant as a turnkey installation. Siemens will also handle plant maintenance over the long term.
High-efficiency combined cycle power plants are an important feature of Siemens environmental portfolio, with which revenue totaling almost €19 billion was posted in fiscal 2008. That is equivalent to around a quarter of Siemens total revenue and makes Siemens the world's leading green infrastructure provider.
