Safe shutdown of motors up to SIL 3/PL e in process automation

Two new fail-safe digital modules from the Siemens Industry Automation Division are implemented with the motor management system Simocode pro for safe shutdown of motors in process automation. The modules DM-F Profisafe and DM-F Local fulfill the requirements of the IEC 61508/62061 and ISO 13849-1 standards for functional safety up to SIL 3/PL e. DM-F Local safely shuts down the motor in response to a local fail-safe signal from a sensor or controller, DM-F Profisafe receives the fail-safe signal via Profibus from a fail-safe controller. Simocode and the two new modules are configured using the Simocode ES software.
