New lighting components for industrial image processing

Nürnberg, (PresseBox) - Siemens Industry Automation division is adding a new series of lighting components to its product range for industrial image processing. The Nerlite LT430 backlights deliver high contrast for representing the contours of a component, detecting edges, or inspecting openings in, for example, drill holes.

The Nerlite LT430 backlights are available in seven sizes from 47x59 to 200x250 millimeters. Several of the frameless models can be arranged together by means of edge-to-edge technology to form uninterrupted lighting surfaces of many sizes for object inspection. Light sources are available in red, green, blue, white and infrared to suit different application requirements. The new products are suitable both for even, diffuse transmitted-light illumination and for incident-light illumination. Thanks to the low-profile housing and the LED heat management system, the lighting units can also be positioned in machine locations where space is restricted. They are connected to power supplies or lighting controls via M12 connections.

With a host of operating modes – from continuous lighting to strobe light operation – the new lighting components are suitable for a wide range of applications. These extend from static to high-speed applications and encompass, for example, the inspection of form, contour and outline of a component, checking for the presence or absence of component properties, measurement, edge highlighting, component positioning, or component identification.
