Alle acht neuen Siemens-Straßenbahnen vom Typ Avenio sind in München im Fahrgasteinsatz. Die Stadtwerke München (SWM) orderten die Straßenbahnen im Oktober 2012 für das örtliche Liniennetz der MVG, um damit die bestehende Fahrzeugflotte zu modernisieren und zu ergänzen. Die Tram für die Münchner Verkehrsgesellschaft (MVG) trägt die Kunden-Typbezeichnung T1. Seit September 2014 sind die ersten Bahnen im Münchner Netz unterwegs. Der Avenio ist die neue Straßenbahn-Generation von Siemens, die in München zum ersten Mal weltweit zum Einsatz kommt.
