SGS to Hold Advanced Ultrasonic Testing Seminar for the First Time in Kazakhstan
The ability to accurately size and monitor defects and discontinuities in a material or structure is becoming more and more important in industrial plants. With the industry's growing need for the application of more reliable, simpler, safer, accurate and cost effective techniques, Phased Array (PA) and Time of Flight Diffraction (ToFD) are widely recognized as the most effective testing methods for flaws detection in welds.
In order to meet the growing need for information on new SGS services in Kazakhstan, namely Phased Array and Time of Flight Diffraction, SGS organizes a one-day seminar on these advanced Ultrasonic Testing techniques on November 30, 2010. Aimed at inspection managers, NDT inspectors and operator representatives from the oil, gas and petrochemical industries, as well as construction contractors, the seminar will be held in the SGS office in Almaty, Kazakhstan.
The advanced Ultrasonic Testing seminar is scheduled from 9:00-18:00 and will be conducted by Mr. Norbert Trimborn, an NDT specialist and Head of the Competence Center for Special NDT Examinations in the Netherlands.
With the aim of providing comprehensive theoretical and practical information on PA and ToFD, the seminar will focus on the advantages of these advanced Ultrasonic Testing methods, such as increased inspection speed, more accurate results, the ability to inspect complex geometries and the absence of radiation. Moreover, seminar attendees will have a unique chance to learn about the application range, opportunities and limitations of Phased Array and Time of Flight Diffraction, the reliability of NDT as well as training and development opportunities in the NDT sector. In addition, SGS will provide practical demonstrations of the equipment and software used in PA and ToFD.
Throughout the seminar, participants are warmly welcome to discuss any aspects of advanced Ultrasonic Testing services with the SGS expert.
