SGS Awarded Contract to Provide Supply Chain Services in Russia

On July 1, 2010, SGS was awarded a contract to provide Supply Chain Services for the construction of a new metallurgical plant by one of Russia's largest producers of pipes, railroads and metal products. During the oneyear contract, SGS will offer Quality Assurance and Quality Control throughout the complete supply chain.

On July 1, 2010, SGS Russia was awarded a contract to provide Supply Chain Services for the construction project of a metallurgical plant by one of the largest companies in the metallurgical sector in Russia.

The construction project will allow the customer to produce both thick and wide steel plates for further manufacturing of large diameter line pipes.

In order to ensure quality during the overall supply chain, the project requires a reliable thirdparty company to provide Supply Chain Services.

As a result of previous successes with SGS on a similar project, the client awarded SGS the contract to perform Supply Chain Services for the construction of its new metallurgical plant.
SGS began operations on July 16, 2010 and is expected to complete the work in July 2011.

During the one year contract, SGS will provide Quality Assurance and Quality Control throughout the complete supply chain of the construction project. As the world's leading inspection, verification, testing and certification company, SGS will perform Quality Control of delivered equipment and materials, third party quality inspection during the installation of technological equipment onsite, as well as commissioning services.

In order to ensure that delivered materials and equipment satisfy customer requirements in a systematic and reliable way, and are in accordance with all contractual specifications and standards, SGS will verify deliveries through checks, inspections and witnessing. With their extensive experience and competence in Supply Chain Services, four SGS Mechanical Engineers will check and inspect the quality and quantity of deliveries and test samples.

SGS carries out the inspection of delivered materials and equipment in accordance with quality control procedures and a checklist relating to specific types of equipment, operational factors and the vendor's quality control system. SGS Quality Assurance and Quality Control services give the facility owner confidence that structures, components, materials or systems meet prestated quality standards and will perform satisfactorily during service.
