Seoul Semiconductor Holds Special Price Event to Celebrate One-Year Anniversary of Acriche, the World’s First Semiconductor Lighting Source suitable for direct connection to mains voltage
(PresseBox) (SEOUL, KOREA, )Seoul Semiconductor introduced a special pricing event on November 16 where customers will have the opportunity to purchase Acriche at 30~40% discounted price from its former price. The special pricing event will extend through the end of the year. The company has also planned a variety of celebration activities to hasten the revitalization of Acriche.
Launched in November 2006, Acriche is the world’s first semiconductor lighting source that can be driven directly from the AC power outlets of homes and offices without the need for an AC-DC converter. It can be used in power systems ranging from 100~120 volt and 220~230 volts. Acriche is a Seoul Semiconductor patented product and is differentiated from LEDs running from DC outlet. Elektronik, one of the most prestigious magazines in Germany name Acriche "Product of the Year" for 2006 in recognition of Acriche’s technical excellence.
Since its launch in November 2006, Acriche has been successfully applied throughout the world. Presently, about 340 Acriche products are lighting up the coast road in Korea while parts of Europe are illuminated by Acriche powered street lights. Innovative applications of Acriche to general lighting such as bulb or desk lamps have also led to changes in the lighting market. Increasingly evidence of Acriche’s economical efficiency has led to its adoption in the LED lighting market. Seoul Semiconductor uses the increasing demand as stepping stone and is planning to broaden the application of Acriche for architectural lighting, signage, and general residential lighting applications.
"In recognition of its feature that can run directly from AC power outlet, Acriche has become the company’s master brand." said Yang Hee Han, vice president of sales and marketing at Seoul Semiconductor. "Edison for the past 100 years, Acriche for the next millennium", he added.
Seoul Semiconductor has recently released the new Acriche, package type emitting 200 lumens. The new Acriche is sold as a single emitter without the heat sink PCB which enables greater flexibility for users to design the PCB type and array emitters as they see fit. In addition, with its upgraded packaging, Acriche can be driven at 4-watt level of high power. As a result of these innovative characteristics Seoul Semiconductor has received positive feedbacks from customers throughout the world. Seoul Semiconductor is planning to increase Acriche’s brightness from the current 60 lm/W to 80 lm/W with the package of 250 lumens by the fourth quarter of 2007, and to 120 lm/w with the package of 400 lumens before the end of 2008. Seoul Semiconductor expects Acriche to replace about $100 billion of the lighting market all over the world.
