SCHOTTEL – the reliable partner for the Turkish market

Spay, (PresseBox) - For years SCHOTTEL and Turkish shipyards and owners have cultivated an intensive and trustful relationship. SCHOTTEL is proud to look at a growing fleet of tugs of Turkish origin that are now in operation worldwide. Currently SCHOTTEL can list a series of substantial follow-up orders. Dearsan Gemi Insaat San. is going to build a total of eight new tugs with SCHOTTEL equipment. To begin with there are two 80 t BP ASD tugs with two SCHOTTEL Rudderpropellers of type SRP 2020 CP, each rated at 2,600 kW. Commissioning is scheduled for 2009. Then there are four stern-driven tugs with 65 t bollard pull on order too. The designed ship speed is 13 knots. Main propulsion is provided by two SCHOTTEL Rudderpropellers of type SRP 1515 CP with 1,945 kW each. The beginning of service is 2009/2010.

For the seventh and eighth tugs the main difference will be the main engine chosen. While the others are powered by ABC the last two 65 t BP ASD tugs, also equipped with SRP 1515 CP, will be driven by Caterpillar 3516B engines to achieve a ship speed of 13 knots. Commissioning is planned for 2009.
At the same time Gelibolu Tersanesi, also a long-term customer of SCHOTTEL, is going to construct two OSVs for Ali Riza Aksoy in Turkey. For both of them, SCHOTTEL is to deliver two Rudderpropellers of type SRP 1212 CP with 1,200 kW each. Scheduled commissioning will take place in 2009.

The SCHOTTEL propulsion concept of the Rudderpropeller suits tugs especially well. Manoeuvrability and efficiency are adapted outstandingly to achieve the best performance level.

Furthermore, two chemical tankers for Düzgit Gemi Insa Sanayi A.S. will go into service in 2009 with SCHOTTEL propulsion systems. The 82.7-m vessels will be driven by two SRP 1212 thrusters with 1,196 kW and a propeller diameter of 2,300 mm. The main engine will be an ABC 6DZC. Additionally a SCHOTTEL Transverse Thruster of type STT 170 T-L with 300 kW was chosen.
And last but not least the bow thruster market in Turkey is prospering too. To mention just one of a number of contracts at this point, Selay Tersanesi has ordered STT 110 LK thrusters with 150 kW each for seven chemical/oil tankers.
