Scalado (, the mobile imaging experts, has today announced that it is expanding its global operations with the establishment of Scalado Inc., a new US division that will operate from offices based in Silicon Valley and San Diego, California. The Company, which already has operations in both Europe and Asia, has earned a worldwide reputation for providing mobile imaging software solutions that are powerful, scalable and modular for any camera phone.

Scalado's mission is to make imaging on mobile phones more efficient by bringing higher usability for end-users, and by cutting hardware costs for handset manufacturers who are increasingly having to compete with products which can offer phone, email, camera, and music functions in a single device. Its new US offices will provide easy access to a number of its key strategic partners in this area, including companies such as Intel, Kodak, TI, and MtekVision.

"Growing our presence in Northern America plays a central role in our expansion and strategic plans for the entire mobile imaging industry," says Fadi Abbas, General Manager, Scalado Inc. "The need for super-fast, powerful, memory- efficient image processing software that can provide a positive user experience and rapid time to market is greater than ever. This solution has already gained the attention of many key figures in the industry, and will therefore boost our market penetration as we continue to cooperate with other major players in this market to strategically deliver out of-the-box solutions to the entire imaging sector."

Scalado already lists the top five tier 1 mobile phone manufacturers as its licensees, and has doubled both its revenue and its total number of staff in the last year, thanks to its ongoing expansion in both Europe and Asia.

The Company is also enjoying a greater influence in the sensor and ISP sectors, thanks to a number of strategic partnerships with the leading manufacturers in this area. These partnerships will also continue to play a key role in 2009, with projects already underway with Aptina, MtekVision, and others.

Scalado is best-known, however, for its CAPS(TM) imaging Software Development Kit (SDK), an extremely CPU and memory efficient software solution that can drastically decrease image processing times when capturing, viewing, and editing large images. Amazing CAPS features, like Scalado AutoRama(TM) , mean that users can create high quality, high-resolution multi megapixel panorama shots automatically, with an ordinary camera phone.

Likewise, Scalado's SpeedTags enable photographers to instantly capture multi- megapixel images without any shutter lag, freezing the moment of capture. Users can zoom into the resulting JPEG images to review the details of the image without any delay, thus giving greater freedom to photographers whilst also enhancing a wide variety of camera phone functions, such as "burst capture".

By adopting Scalado's technologies, mobile phone manufacturers are drastically reducing development and device costs and significantly shortening time to market. For this reason, more than 300 million mobile phone handsets now feature Scalado software.
