Accredidation for Net-Testing Device at STFI in accordance with DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025: 2005-08

(PresseBox) ( Chemnitz, )
Within different research projects, at the Saxon Textile Research Institute (STFI) the specific development of knotless net-structures and the construction of a net-testing device took place at the same time. Over several stages of development reproducible and application oriented tests, performed on the constructed net-testing device on various net-structures, have now been made possible.

With the achievement of the necessary routine an almost unique net-testing facility worldwide is available at the STFI.

It was necessary to include the newly developed specific test methods into the existing accreditation according to DIN ISO/IEC 17025: 2005-08. In May 2007 the regular (routine) inspection of the DAP GmbH took place and as a result the net-testing device has been accepted in the accreditation.

With the net-testing device the determination of force-elongation performance of large area and/or prefabri-cated meshed structures up to approximately 24 t is possible by applying an impact vertical to the plane using geometrically different test specimen.

Two fields of application are in the main focus at the moment: safety nets and air cargo safety nets.

In addition to the research projects employing the net-testing device performed at in-house research de-partments the net-testing device is also available to external interested parties now.

For the use of the testing device the manufacturers of safety nets (for individuals), freight transportation load nets, and aircraft pallet nets, authorities and regulatory or monitoring facilities for safety relevant and transportation auxiliary material, as well as manufacturers and users of geosynthetics are thought of as target groups.
