Stephan Kohler remains head of German Energy Agency

RWE energy efficiency company will be set up as planned on 1 July 2009

Essen, (PresseBox) - Stephan Kohler (56), head of the German Energy Agency (dena) and CEO designate of the new RWE energy efficiency company, has asked the Executive Board of RWE AG to release him from the commitments he made to RWE in February 2009.

Kohler explained: "In view of the current difficult political and economic climate and the upcoming work to be done at dena, I would like to continue to fulfil my responsibilities there. Furthermore, I have been urged by members of the Supervisory Board of dena to honour my contract with dena. I could not turn a blind eye to these requests. On the other hand, I do regret not being able to take up the new role with RWE. With its initiatives in the area of energy efficiency, RWE is certainly on a very good course. Jointly with dena I will be glad to support the set-up of the new efficiency company and will be available in an advisory capacity to RWE in this process."

CEO of RWE AG, Dr. Juergen Grossmann, said: "We were looking forward to working with Stephan Kohler. New ideas need people who can think laterally and are willing to make things happen. We at RWE will be demonstrating the energy to lead in the area of energy efficiency and bringing new products to market. As well as these energy efficiency initiatives, we will also be demonstrating our commitment to e-mobility. The new RWE energy efficiency company will be set up as planned on 1 July 2009."
