Know-how to synthesize with a focus on silicone functionalising, fluorine/fluorine-free repellency as well as polyurethane chemistry enable customised solutions for technical textiles, which we work out together with our customers.
This year's motto is "Solutions for Automotive Textiles" and, by focussing on seven major topics and by means of selected, tried and tested products, we will demonstrate how textile auxiliaries by RUDOLF can contribute to functionalising automotive textiles and to also preserve their value.
What is essential is efficient pre-treatment to guarantee the function of the following finishing processes. Especially with automotive textiles it is of paramount importance that there are as little residual preparations as possible. Thoroughly pre-treated fabric with only little deposits will guarantee low emissions, will not contribute to fogging and will ensure that the following water, oil and soil-repellent finishes are not affected by surface-active substances. As a universally applicable low-foaming washing and wetting agent with dispersing, emulsifying and fat-dissolving properties, ®RUCOGEN FWK has proved most suitable in practice. It is extremely suitable for removing oil, silicone and paraffin-containing preparations.
Due to their visibility, especially on dark shades, and their tendency to dusting, PES oligomers cause big problems. The best recipe to avoid oligomers on the fabric is high-performance products which disperse PES oligomers. As a dosable oligomer disperser ®RUCO-TEX OGX effectively prevents oligomers from depositing on the fabric and, thus, dusting.
Many years of experience in the field of fluorine-free repellent finishing enable RUDOLF to offer high-performance protective finishes for automotive textiles. Value-preserving finishes against aqueous soil with state-of-the-art repellents based on fluorine-free recipes combine material protection and sustainability. ®RUCO-DRY ECO PLUS is the top performer of the fluorine-free product range, which results in excellent wash resistance when combined with crosslinking boosters, such as ®RUCO-LINK RCX, ®RUCO-LINK CHX, ®RUCO-LINK BEW.
In the automobile sector flame retardancy is a core function and is guaranteed by powerful flame retardants. The ecological and physiological behaviour are relevant when selecting these products. ®RUCO-COAT FRP CONC is a water-based, ready-to-use, soft compound which is extremely suitable for backcoating automotive cover fabrics. ®RUCO-FLAM PSY-E is an example for a tried and tested, durable flame retardant for aqueous finishing, which is already effective when applied in low quantities. Both products are free of halogen and antimony trioxide.
High requirements of mechanical resistance in the automotive sector often demand finishing with polymers. ®RUCO-PUR SLR is extremely suitable for that. As self-crosslinking polyurethane it improves technological properties such as the abrasion resistance and velcro resistance of textiles used without affecting the handle.
It is important to avoid static cling in automobiles. The solution is antistatic agents that do not affect other finishing effects such as repellency and flame retardancy. ®RUCO-STAT APF is the product to use: With only small application quantities it effectively prevents static cling without supporting the thermomigration of disperse dyestuffs.
Effectively avoiding undesired and persistent odours is essential to preserve the value of automotive interiors. Representative is the risk of a penetrant odour when spilling milk onto non-washable interior textiles and the following bacterial degradation. ®RUCO-BAC AGP is the remedy: Based on micro-disperse silver technology it already guarantees effective protection against odour-causing bacteria when applied in only small quantities.
