RTX Telecom changes name to RTX to reflect its broader scope
As experts in designing and developing wireless communication solutions RTX originates from the cluster of telecom companies around Aalborg and Aalborg University in the Northern part of Denmark. Over the years, however, RTX's business has developed from mostly solutions around cordless telephony to cover a much broader focus on wireless solutions for various data and voice communications.
While RTX has developed into a major provider of IP based handsets to major global PBX players, the business has expanded much beyond the voice arena. Wireless solutions are today provided into other areas, including Healthcare, Gaming, M2M, Home Automation, Asset Tracking and Wireless Audio. RTX is providing solutions based on wireless standards such as low power Wi-Fi, Bluetooth(TM) , Ultra Low Power DECT and CAT-iq, as well as custom proprietary solutions.
In order to better reflect the breadth of RTX's offerings the official name has been changed from RTX Telecom A/S to RTX A/S, which was officially approved by a recent extraordinary General Assembly. "We are still developing and manufacturing many telecoms-related products, but they are just part of our offerings today" says Jesper Mailind, President & CEO of RTX, "thus we find it more appropriate to have a more neutral company name and underscore our expertise in wireless technologies with the slogan - Wireless Wisdom" Jesper Mailind adds.
Recent examples of RTX's significant expansion include, in February 2012, its launch of a new generation of wireless Skype handsets that the company developed mainly in Denmark and produced in Asia. In March 2012, RTX was appointed as a Qualcomm Atheros Authorized Design Center - an exclusive club for a selected number of dedicated companies. These developments reveal the variety of the RTX market offerings today, which make the name change a natural consequence.
