New autonomy for technoPLAN®, Rogler Software's Electronic Planning Board

(PresseBox) (Vienna, ) technoPLAN®, Rogler Software's successful Electronic Planning Board and monitoring system is now also available as a standalone solution for integration in other management information systems. From October 12 to 15, Rogler's standalone technoPLAN® version will make its public debut at the IFRA Expo 2011 in Vienna.

"Implementing an electronic planning board is not as trivial as it seems. Time and time again, we've seen suppliers of management information systems come up against huge obstacles when this kind of solution has to be installed in a real environment", says Hannes Rogler, Managing Director of Rogler Software GmbH. Many systems prove to be unsuitable for use in everyday planning practice.

Rogler embarked on the development of technoPLAN® back in the mid-nineties, basing it very closely on analogue blackboards. The team of soft-ware developers, headed by Hannes Rogler, succeeded in transferring the blackboard's ease of use to their new Electronic Planning Board. The board has been continuously enhanced and optimized ever since in collaboration with various users. Today, technoPLAN® can be found at more than 2000 workplaces in print shops throughout the German speaking world as well as in the Benelux countries, Scandinavia and Eastern Europe.

technoPLAN® - the central information pool

One of the very first technoPLAN® users was Gerin, a printer located in Wolkersdorf (Austria). According to Kurt Emersberger, technoPLAN® mean-while performs the role of a central information pool there and is accessible from anywhere on the site - from the sales office through the pressroom to the mailroom. technoPLAN® interacts at Gerin with technoLOGIC®, the MI system, and technoBDE©, the data collection solution, and the customer is delighted with the seamlessness and flexibility of the Rogler applications.

The standalone version of technoPLAN® can now be integrated into existing MI systems relatively easily via a special interface. "This step will allow a far greater number of businesses to profit from our Electronic Planning Board's intuitive operation and flexible concept without having to replace their entire system," Hannes Rogler explains. The functionality of an MI system already in place can be extended and enhanced in one fell swoop thanks to techno-PLAN®. At the same time, the Electronic Planning Board helps printers im-prove their throughput and utilization noticeably.

technoPLAN® - always a clear view

The order data is transferred direct to technoPLAN® from the relevant costing module. technoPLAN® then decides which production equipment should be used. Various algorithms such as "earliest possible date" or "calculate backwards from delivery date" support the planners who are responsible for dispatching to the cost centers. technoPLAN® helps them keep a clear view and notifies them of any conflicts that occur on individual production lines when planning cards are prepared or moved. Each user can additionally see all important information about capacity utilization, actual cost center statuses and maintenance schedules at a glance. The Electronic Planning Board is freely scalable and can be adapted to the specific needs of each workplace. "technoPLAN® also supplies Sales with valuable data about whether capacity is still available, which deadlines can safely be promised or whether supplementary sales activities are called for," Hannes Rogler continues. "All of these features define technoPLAN® as a vital tool on the path to networked production and administration."

Rogler Software will show the standalone version of its technoPLAN® Elec-tronic Planning Board at Ifra Expo Vienna in Hall A, Stand A460.
