Winner in the "Best Technical Realization" category: Power Tools Learning Campus receives "European eLearning Award eureleA 2009"

The "Power Tools Learning Campus" from Bosch has received a prestigious award: the "European eLearning Award eureleA 2009". The virtual, three-dimensional campus was the winner in the "Best Technical Realization" category. When stating the reasons for its decision, the esteemed jury praised the Power Tools Learning Campus for "its good quality of information with very good didactics and outstanding technical realization". Furthermore, the jury also made special mention of the fact that this eLearning project had also convinced its female members. The award was presented by Dr. Christoph Lahmann, the Chief Information Officer of the German federal state government of Lower Saxony, and by Dr. Andreas Gruchow, a Member of the Board at Deutsche Messe AG. Erwin Ritz, Bosch Project Manager for the Learning Campus, and Christoph Gebauer from IM-Systems AG, who is responsible for the technical realization, were present to accept the award.
The virtual campus www.powertool-portal.com for professional tradesmen, do-it-yourselfers and retailers is the largest interactive knowledge portal about power tools. The database provides information about cordless technology, tools and accessories, through to gardening, woodworking, stoneworking and surface treatment, sales tips and training. The contents are offered in the form of animations and simulations, podcasts, videos, presentations or printed media. Interactive learning programs enable users to monitor their own progress and test their knowledge. The tried-and-tested encyclopedia of power tools is also available in digital form on the website. The knowledge portal is even able to answer more in-depth questions. An abundance of application tips also help inexperienced people to start working with power tools.
The "European eLearning Award eureleA" contest has now been running for six years under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Peter A. Henning (Institute for Computers in Education at the Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences). It bestows awards for innovative training and further education projects that use electronic teaching and learning methods. More than 120 submissions from eight European countries were assessed in the 2009 round of the contest. In addition to the "Best Technical Realization" category, the jury gave six other awards to eLearning projects from various participants: from the "Police online" project submitted by the German federal state of Baden-Württemberg, through to a project about skin cancer screening. All award winners are now eligible to use the title of "Best Practice in eLearning".
