Senvion wins Offshore Order over 203 Megawatts for Trianel Borkum II
Jürgen Geissinger, CEO of Senvion, says: "We appreciate the confidence that the project-consortium Trianel shows in our turbines. This contract confirms that we are setting standards in the cost-effective generation of offshore wind energy and we will further consolidate our strong position in the offshore wind-energy market with the Senvion 6.2M152."
The wind farm Trianel Borkum II is planned to be installed 45 kilometers north of the island Borkum in the German North Sea, close to the wind farm alpha ventus, which started operations in 2009 and is equipped with six 5M 126 Senvion offshore turbines . The turbines will be installed in a water depth of 25 to 35 meters. The 32 Senvion 6.2M152 turbines with a power upgrade will produce around 800 million kilowatt-hours of electricity every year and enough to supply around 210.000 households annually.
According to the current schedule the final investment decision for Trianel Wind Farm Borkum II should be taken in the first half of 2017. According to that, the construction could start early 2018. "In the first stage of the Trianel Wind Farm Borkum, we have already laid the essential foundations for the expansion of the municipal Offshore engagements. Therefore this project is of high commercial interest for local companies", explains Klaus Horstick, Managing Director of TWB II. Until the investment decision has been taken, further local partners shall be recruited.
Trianel GmbH was established in 1999 with the aim of pooling the interests of municipal utilities and regional energy suppliers and boosting their independence and competitiveness on the energy market.
The concept of pooling interests in a network has found followers among over 100 shareholders and partners in the public utilities sector. Alltogether, the Trianel shareholders supply energy to more than six million people in Germany, the Netherlands, Austria and Switzerland, making Trianel the leading municipal utilities network both in Germany and in Europe. Trianel's activities focus on the support of municipal utilities in their supply responsibilities. Interests are pooled and synergies exploited in the fields of energy trade and procurement. Over the years, new business areas have joined the original sectors. Trianel is also active in power generation, gas storage and the development of new business models for municipal utilities.
