Current shareholders Canton of Graubünden and Axpo to acquire Alpiq's participation in Repower

(PresseBox) (Poschiavo, ) Repower takes note of the fact that Alpiq will be selling its participation in Repower as part of its restructuring programme. Alpiq AG holds a 24.6 per cent interest in the share capital of Repower AG. The two shareholders Axpo and Canton of Graubünden, which will continue to form a group of shareholders and to which Alpiq has offered its share, have decided to temporarily acquire half each (12.3 per cent) of the participation held by Alpiq until now.

The purchasers plan to sell a majority of the acquired shares in Repower to a new strategic partner in the short to medium term. Subject to the required approvals by the authorities, the transaction to Canton of Graubünden and Axpo is planned to be executed in the first quarter of 2013.

Axpo and the Canton of Graubünden are explicitly committed to assuring that Repower remains an energy company managed on the basis of business principles also in the future.

Repower's strategic orientation and operational activities are not affected by this transaction.

Repower AG

Repower is an international energy company headquartered in Poschiavo, Switzerland. It has further offices in Klosters, Ilanz, Bever, Landquart, Zurich, Milan, Dortmund, Bucharest, Prague and Sarajevo. Repower generates an operating revenue of around CHF 2.5 billion through the sale of approx. 19 billion kilowatt hours (kWh) of electricity as well as the sale of gas. Repower also operates as an international energy trader, working all over Europe from trading sites in Poschiavo, Milan and Prague. Repower employs around 730 people, plus 30 trainees in Switzerland and 450 agents in Italy. More than 480 of Repower's staff are employed in Graubünden.

In south-eastern Switzerland, Repower is the leading energy supply company. In Italy, Germany and Romania, the company sells electricity and gas to medium-sized enterprises and public corporations.
