Swiss air navigation service provider to increase efficiency and reduce costs

Quintiq's solution will enable optimized workforce planning

(PresseBox) (AH's-Hertogenbosch, The Netherlands, )
skyguide, Switzerland's air navigation service provider (ANSP), will optimize the planning of the rosters and tasks of nearly 800 air traffic control officers (ATCOs) and other staff using Quintiq's Advanced Planning and Scheduling (APS) software.

This new planning system project, called the Business Integrated Optimization of MANpower (BIOMAN) project, commenced in October 2012 and its implementation is expected to take one year to complete. The goals of the project are to enable skyguide to achieve greater planning efficiency and transparency, and thus improve service delivery performance and reduce costs.

After a public tender process and thorough evaluations, skyguide chose Quintiq as it was the only provider who was able to offer the right product, as well as experience and expertise in the ATC market. Quintiq's APS solution is used around the globe by numerous prominent ANSPs, who control about 30% of the world's airspace.

Quintiq was able to demonstrate that its solution will enable skyguide to achieve enhanced operational efficiency and service quality as well as reduce costs. Additionally, Quintiq proved that it could provide a flexible system that can adapt to the variety of requirements at skyguide's different locations, and integrate with skyguide's existing planning systems.

The BIOMAN project will be implemented in skyguide's main centers in Geneva and Zurich.

Arjen Heeres, COO of Quintiq, commented: "We are very pleased to have such a well respected company as skyguide adopting our system. It is good to see the success of Quintiq within ANSPs around the world. Our company continues to be recognized by the Air Traffic Control industry as the solution that provides a critical element in improving its business performance."
